What is a Neograft Hair Transplant?
Neograft Hair Transplant is a gentle, least invasive procedure for hair transplantation with natural-looking results. Our patients can typically go back to work the next day!
To many people, a full head of hair represents attractiveness and desirability both personally and professionally. For this reason, it is vital to understand what effects a hair restoration procedure can have on your daily interactions with people and in all other aspects of your life. Hair restoration with NeoGraft is unnoticeable, making it your secret to tell.
While men tend to lose hair on the upper forehead and top of the scalp, women tend to thin back along their part line. Others will have receding hairlines. Just like the NeoGraft treatment for male patients, NeoGraft delivers great results for women.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
After much research, we have chose to offer the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method utilizing the NeoGraft™ Automated Hair Transplantation device. The FUE method of hair transplantation removes individual hair follicles from the scalp in their naturally occurring groupings of about 1-4 hairs and are then placed in the areas of the scalp where balding has occurred.
The benefits of the automated FUE method to the patient are the same as manual FUE; minimal discomfort, no scalpel incision, no sutures, no linear scar, little to no risk of complications, quick recovery time, fewer activity limitations and a more natural looking result than traditional strip methods.
The “minimally invasive” NeoGraft™ Automated (FUE) and Implantation Hair Restoration procedure is quickly becoming the new “Gold Standard” for hair transplant procedures.
WHY NEOGRAFT IS THE SOLUTION:

How is NeoGraft superior to other FUE techniques?
Other FUE techniques involve the doctor manually removing the follicles and then storing them until that phase is complete and the doctor is ready to move onto transplantation. Both of these processes involve handling the follicle to some degree, and this can directly affect the number of follicles that will take and start growing hair.
NeoGraft has automated the FUE technique, making it the most advanced technology in the hair transplant industry. Thanks to this automation, which makes for very stable results, NeoGraft is the first and only FDA-cleared FUE harvesting system.
The revolutionary NeoGraft system uses pneumatic controls to precisely extract the individual hair follicles. These follicles are not touched with scalpels, but are instead moved down into the storage area of the system where they are lightly misted with a saline solution to keep them in good shape for transplantation. While in storage the follicular units are separated by size. It’s imperative to separate the single hair follicles from those with two or three hairs. Again, when transplanting the follicles, NeoGraft is automated, so we don't manually grab each follicle and move it into a pre-made hole. When transplanting the follicles, we pay special attention to the direction the hair is growing so it blends in naturally with the adjacent hair.
The NeoGraft™ Automated FUE is also a useful procedure to fix visible linear scars from previous “strip” surgeries. FUE can be used to ‘fill in’ or camouflage those old scars by transplanting new follicles into the area.
Who is an ideal candidate for NeoGraft?
NeoGraft uses follicular unit extraction (FUE). This method of transplantation requires that the patient still has hair growing on the lower back of his or her scalp; patients can’t be fully bald. The functioning follicles will be transplanted into the thinning or bald areas. This hair from the back of the head needs to be balding-resistant for the procedure to be a success. Plus, there needs to be adequate amounts of this hair in the donor areas.
NeoGraft is a good option for patients who want to wear their hair short in the back or on the sides, as there won’t be a big scar across the back of the scalp. Also, NeoGraft is a great way to camouflage that scar if you’ve previously had linear harvests from the back of the scalp.
It is best to begin these procedures when you are first thinning, rather than when an area is fully bald. This allows you to keep up with any continued thinning.
What are the risks with NeoGraft?
This is a very low-risk procedure, especially when compared to the strip transplant method, which removes a large portion of skin and creates a long incision scar. Because Dr. Kerr only removes a single follicle at a time, the impact on the scalp is minimal. There is no scarring and the tiny spots where the follicles were removed heal very quickly. That makes this a very low risk for infections. There isn’t any bleeding. There is no anesthesia, so there is no reaction potential.
When will the hair start to grow?
The first two to three weeks after your NeoGraft session can be frustrating, although Dr. Kerr explains exactly what is going to happen during your consultation. Over these two to three weeks, all of the transplanted hair will fall out. But this doesn’t mean the follicles have failed to take; it is simply the follicles’ reaction to the trauma of transplantation. Not all of the transplanted hairs will survive — usually, around 80 percent are successful. The hair follicles then settle in and return to the anagen (growth) phase in 3-4 months, producing new hair and returning fullness to the transplanted area.
