Neck Liposuction

The face and neck are difficult areas to sculpt naturally. Regardless of normal diet and exercise, the neck can harbor excess fat, creating the appearance of a double chin or otherwise obscuring a defined jawline. Neck liposuction is considered a gold standard treatment for submental fullness and excess fat that has localized along the jawline and upper neck.

If you're struggling to eliminate fatty tissue around the frame of your face, neck liposuction may be an ideal solution. Contact Silk Touch Cosmetic Surgery, Lipo, and Medspa in Boise, ID at 208-715-9387 to schedule your consultation for a new and improved jawline!

Am I a Candidate for Neck Liposuction?

The neck liposuction procedure may be right for you if you've seen little change in your jawline definition through diet and exercise. This area is largely influenced by aging and genetics. Your neck may naturally look full or thick simply because it's an area in which your body tends to store fat. To be an ideal candidate for neck liposuction, you won't only have a desire for a more sculpted jawline and upper neck, but will also need to have good skin elasticity. If your skin is loose, removing some of the underlying fat can exacerbate this. To ensure you can achieve the best treatment outcome, our board certified physician, Dr. Jason Nealy will, carefully assess all aspects of the target area.

How is Neck Liposuction Performed?

This procedure is performed as an outpatient surgery. If performed independently of other surgical procedures, your neck liposuction may be done with local anesthetic and mild sedation. This means you'll be awake but pain-free throughout your surgery. To sculpt your chin, the doctor will make a few miniscule incisions in discrete areas under the chin. With the incisions being minute, they tend to heal as pinpoint, nearly invisible scars. Our doctors will insert a narrow tube, called a cannula, into the subcutaneous layer of fat, which rapidly vibrates back and forth to separate and loosen fat into smaller pieces before it is gently removed. After removing the appropriate amount of fat, the doctor will continue to sculpt the area to ensure a smooth, lean, and natural-looking contour.

What is Recovery Like?

Immediately following the procedure our physicians will encase your neck and head in a compression garment to support the surgical site. When you return home from your liposuction procedure, your main focus will be rest and pain management. We suggest taking prescription pain medication for a few days to manage any soreness and tenderness that may be experienced. Patients can continue wearing the provided compression garment as desired.. While you should rest as much as your body requests, it is also important to move around and walk short distances (even if just around the house) a few times a day to encourage healthy circulation. Temporary bruising and swelling can be common side effects after neck liposuction. Our patients typically feel comfortable returning to work and other light activities within five to seven days post surgery, if not sooner.
