How Does SmartLipo Work?
SmartLipo™ (Smart Lipo) uses a paperclip—thin laser fiber which is inserted into a very tiny incision. The fat is melted by the laser in such a way that the body doesn’t experience trauma that’s associated with traditional liposuction. In a traditional liposuction procedure, the patient is put under, opened up and solid chunks of fat are sucked out. Local anesthesia is used in the Smartlipo procedure, and the client walks out in an hour or two. Several areas of the body may be treated at one time. Clients are back on their feet within a day or two. Many may go back to work the next day. Laser lipo is comparable in price to traditional liposuction.

Tumescent Liposuction or Liposuction done by local anesthesia
Recently this technique has become more popular for maximizing the safety of liposuction. Laser Liposuction may be done totally by local anesthesia with minimal bruising or blood loss.
What are the benefits of tumescent liposuction?
Local anesthesia used in the tumescent technique for liposuction is so effective that patients no longer need intravenous sedatives, narcotic analgesics, or general anesthesia. As a result of the widespread capillary constriction caused by the epinephrine in the anesthetic solution, there is minimal bleeding during and after liposuction. This is a major improvement in the liposuction technique compared to the older methods that simply use general anesthesia.
Rapid Healing after Tumescent Liposuction
After tumescent liposuction, there is a certain amount of blood-tinged local anesthetic solution that remains under the skin. This excess fluid is either slowly absorbed over several weeks into the blood stream, or it can be rapidly removed by drainage through skin incisions and absorbed by special absorptive pads. Our Liposuction is an outpatient procedure and you can actually walk out of our office!
