Everyone loves facials! They make you feel pampered, relaxed and your skin revitalized. While Silk Touch Med Spa offers many types of facials suitable for your skin type, what do you do on those days, or even weeks between facials?
Today we would like to share with you a fun, cheap DIY home facial using yogurt, oatmeal and honey! Perfect for those days between appointments.
Oatmeal Honey Mask
This mask is definitely one of the best home mask’s out there – not only is it fun but it is cheap. The three ingredients yogurt, honey and oatmeal may even be in your kitchen right now
The yogurt has a mild astringent effect and it acts as a natural moisturizer and helps to keep away blemishes and spots. The lactic acid in the yogurt softens the skin and the oatmeal is a natural, hypoallergenic exfoliant, scraping off dead skin and unclogging pores. The honey absorbs and retains in moisture and helps add a glow to your skin.
- 2 Tablespoon of plain yogurt.
- 1 Tablespoon of oatmeal
- 1 teaspoon of honey.
Before you start, grind the oatmeal down to a finer powder. To do this you can simply put the oatmeal into a coffee cup and mash it with the back of a spoon against the side of the cup. I use instant oatmeal because I have found it to break up more easily, but it is up to you. You can also use a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle to grind the oatmeal.
To mix the mask all you have to do is mix all the ingredients together in a small bowel or cup (You can use the same one that you ground the oatmeal in. Saves on dishes)
Now the mask is ready.
Before you do any facial mask you need to wash your face. It is extremely important to always wash your face, so you have a clean pallet for the face mask to do its magic.
Next, massage the paste in a circular motion to help exfoliate your skin for a minute or so. Then leave it on your face for a 10 to 15 minutes. It is ok if it gets in your mouth (it actually doesn’t taste that bad.) Next simply wash the mask off with warm water and pat your face dry, then look at your glowing face in the mirror!
It is usually best to moisturize your face after doing a mask.
While this mask is a great “in-between” mask, it could never replace the benefits you see by getting a professional facial or chemical peel.
Enjoy the mask!
