How Common Is BOTOX® Treatment?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is currently used by millions of patients. It is a simple, FDA approved non-surgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. Many wrinkles are actually creases that have been worn into the skin by making the same expression thousands of times. BOTOX® injections smooth wrinkles by safely and selectively blocking the muscle from contracting. As a result, the muscle relaxes, and the wrinkles gradually soften and disappear.
How Does BOTOX® Work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic has been researched and administered in the medical field for over twenty years. Approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in April 2002, it is used in minute quantities. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a sterile, purified protein which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet to form over time. BOTOX® Cosmetic is also used for the treatment of excessive sweating, migraine headaches, neurological disorders, and for a lip flip to achieve the appearance of a fuller lip.

Does BOTOX® Have Other Uses?
Silk Touch Cosmetic Surgery, Lipo & Medspa is successfully using BOTOX® as an anti-aging treatment and medical treatment for migraines, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and lip flips.
A lip flip is an alternative treatment to dermal filler in achieving the appearance of a fuller lip. Botox is injected into the Cupid’s bow and in the corners of the mouth to relax the muscles around the lip. This causes the upper lip to “flip” outward. Unlike dermal fillers, a lip flip does not actually increase the size of the lip itself, but instead gives the lip a more prominent appearance. This treatment is great for individuals who have smiles that expose much of their gums.

BOTOX® Cosmetics lasts 3-6 months with the first treatment and generally longer with subsequent treatments. It is important to understand that BOTOX® Cosmetics is an effective, ongoing treatment for the relief of symptoms only—it is not a cure. And, because every patient is different, the degree of relief will vary from person to person.
For your BOTOX® cosmetic treatment, you will either see Dr. Brian Kerr, Dr. Jason Nealy or one of our injection specialists. As a Black Diamond account, our injectors are in the top 1% in the nation of Allergan providers.
A very small needle is used with minimal discomfort experienced by most clients. Our injectors have a very gentle touch.
BOTOX® Cosmetics is generally well tolerated by patients. Side effects are rare and usually transient in nature.
Effects can be seen as early as 48 hours and can take up to two weeks for the treatment to take full effect.
Your first appointment will last 30 minutes. Subsequent appointments will last around 15 minutes. Clients can go home or back to work immediately following treatment.
Specific instructions will be reviewed at the time of treatment. Patients are asked NOT to massage the site, to remain upright, and to exercise the targeted muscles as much as possible in the 3-4 hours after treatment. This will give the best results.
Most treatments cost from $200-350 per site. BOTOX® is charged by the unit.
