Moles can be present at birth, or they appear over time as our skin is exposed to the sun. In the growth of moles, sun exposure also seems to play a role even in the development of atypical, dysplastic or moles. They can also develop due to genetic reason.
Mole Removal Methods include:
Excision Method with Stitches: The mole is removed with a medical blade and stitches are placed to close the incision.
Cauterization: Using a cautery tool, the mole is burned away. No stitches are required as the mole has been cauterized.
Shaving Method: With the use of scalpel, the mole is lifted and removed and then an electrical instrument is used to cauterize or burn the area to stop the bleeding. A bandage is placed on the wound with a topical antibiotic.
Laser Mole Removal: IPL Lasers have been used successfully to deliver light energy to the targeted area. This light energy is absorbed only by the pigment in the skin. The pigment is broken up and then “carried away” by the body and absorbed during the healing process. Several treatments may be required.
