Frequently Asked Questions

Is Acne LED Light Therapy Safe?

Yes, Acne LED Light Therapy is generally safe. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses certain wavelengths of light to eliminate bacteria that cause acne. The blue light specifically targets the bacteria, while the red light promotes healing and reduces inflammation.

However, like any other cosmetic procedure, there are risks to Acne LED Light Therapy, including:

  • Skin irritation
  • Dryness or flakiness
  • Potential damage to the eye
  • Skin discoloration
  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Having an allergic reaction

These risks are somewhat rare and usually only occur if the device is not used properly. Dr. Kerr will use his expertise to minimize these risks and ensure your comfort.

Who Are Not Good Candidates for Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are a great option for those looking to exfoliate their skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, they are not for everyone as they can have adverse effects.

You may not be a good candidate for a chemical peel if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have an active skin infection
  • You are currently pregnant
  • You are breastfeeding
  • You are using certain medications, such as Accutane
  • You have a history of keloid scarring
  • You have an abnormal healing factor
  • You have a sunburn
  • You have a skin condition, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, or rosacea
  • You have recently undergone a facial procedure

Dr. Kerr will assess your current health, medical history, skin condition, and aesthetic goals to determine whether or not a chemical peel is the right procedure for you.

How Does Tripollar Work?

Tripollar is a unique non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radiofrequency energy. This energy is used to heat the deeper layers of your skin, stimulate your body’s natural collagen production, and promote tissue remodeling. This procedure can help those looking to improve their skin laxity, reduce the appearance of their fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance their skin elasticity. Furthermore, this treatment is suitable for all skin types and has no recovery period.

What Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling, which is also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses small, fine needles to stimulate collagen production. There is a variation of this procedure called microneedling with radiofrequency. In addition to stimulating collagen, the radiofrequency energy enhances your facial contour and tightens the skin.

These two cosmetic procedures can treat the following:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks
  • Surgical scars

What Are The Risks of Venus Freeze?

Although Venus Freeze is generally a safe procedure, it is not for everyone. There are a few risks you need to consider before scheduling your appointment with Dr. Kerr.

These risks include the following:

  • Temporary swelling and redness
  • Increased skin sensitivity
  • Skin irritation
  • Changes in your skin’s pigmentation
  • Bruising
  • Blanching, which is when your skin turns white temporarily.
  • Skin burns
  • Scarring
  • Having an allergic reaction

If these risks seem like they are too much, Dr. Kerr can recommend safer alternatives to help you meet your aesthetic goals.
